Essential Amino Acids (EAA) Powder
All 9 Essential Amino Acids in One Scoop, with 2 g Leucine
In short: a flavoured essential amino acid powder (EAA supplement) containing all 9 essential amino acids. Each 5.8 g scoop gives 5,000 mg (5 g) of essential amino acids, including 2,000 mg of L-leucine and 3,050 mg of the three BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine and valine). One 348 g tub holds 60 servings at one scoop a day. It is vegan, sweetened with stevia, made in the UK to BRC standards, and the tub carries a code you can scan to see independent lab results. Price: £39.95 on the UK store (10% off your first Subscribe & Save order, then 15%) and $54.16 on the US store.
Choose from four flavours: Apple & Kiwi, Orange & Lime, Mixed Berry and Watermelon. Mix one scoop into 250 ml of water for a light amino acid drink you can sip before, during or after training, between meals, or whenever a heavy protein shake does not suit you.
If you prefer tablets, try our Essential Aminos Tablets. Made using DC grade fermented amino acids and completely filler free, they contain no binders, bulking agents or flow agents: just essential amino acids compressed directly, which is rare for a tablet.
You can learn more about the ingredients behind this essential amino acids supplement on our Ingredients A to Z page.

What Are the 9 Essential (Indispensable) Amino Acids?
Essential amino acids, also called indispensable amino acids, are the nine required amino acids your body cannot make for itself, so they have to come from food or a supplement. They are leucine, isoleucine, valine, lysine, threonine, phenylalanine, methionine, histidine and tryptophan. The other amino acids in protein can be made in the body, which is why these nine are the ones that count as essential. Every scoop of this powder contains all nine. For the research behind them, see the science of essential amino acids.
Leucine: 2 g Per Scoop
Leucine is an essential amino acid and one of the three branched chain amino acids. It is the amino acid most studied for its role in signalling muscle protein synthesis, which is why many people look for a leucine amino acid supplement. Rather than taking leucine on its own, this powder gives you 2,000 mg of L-leucine alongside the other eight essential amino acids that muscle protein is built from. Read more on why we use 2 g of leucine.
Amino Acids in BCAA vs a Full EAA Powder
A BCAA powder contains three amino acids: leucine, isoleucine and valine. An EAA powder contains those three plus the other six essential amino acids. Each scoop of ours provides 3,050 mg of BCAAs (2,000 mg leucine, 550 mg valine, 500 mg isoleucine) and 1,950 mg of the remaining six EAAs, so you get every essential amino acid in one drink. For the full comparison, see EAAs vs BCAAs: which should you take?
Amino Acid Breakdown (Per 5.8 g Scoop)
Each scoop of our Essential Amino Acids Powder provides all 9 essential amino acids, from fermented sources:
-
L-Leucine: 2,000 mg
A branched chain amino acid and the largest amount in the formula. -
L-Lysine (HCl): 750 mg
An essential amino acid your body cannot make, found in protein foods such as meat, fish, dairy and legumes. -
L-Valine: 550 mg
One of the three branched chain amino acids. -
L-Isoleucine: 500 mg
The third branched chain amino acid. -
L-Threonine: 415 mg
An essential amino acid used in normal protein metabolism. -
L-Phenylalanine: 400 mg
An essential amino acid used in normal protein synthesis. -
L-Methionine: 250 mg
A sulphur-containing essential amino acid. -
L-Histidine (HCl): 81.5 mg
An essential amino acid and the body's building block for carnosine. -
L-Tryptophan: 53.5 mg
An essential amino acid and one of the nine your body cannot make.
Total: 5,000 mg (5 g) of essential amino acids per scoop.
Ingredients: L-Leucine, Natural Flavouring with Stevia, L-Lysine Hydrochloride, L-Valine, L-Isoleucine, L-Threonine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Methionine, L-Histidine Hydrochloride, L-Tryptophan.
Reference Intakes (UK and US)
There is no Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) for individual amino acids in the UK, and no US RDA for them either, so the label shows "No NRV established". Reference intakes are set for total protein instead: the UK reference nutrient intake is 0.75 g of protein per kg of bodyweight a day for adults, and the US RDA (NIH) is 0.8 g per kg a day. Essential amino acids are part of that protein, and one scoop of this powder adds 5 g of them.
How to Take EAA Powder
As a food supplement, take 1 scoop mixed with 250 ml of water daily. As an exercise aid, take 1 to 2 scoops mixed with 250 to 500 ml of water 30 minutes before, during or after physical activity. Do not exceed the stated recommended daily intake. Not intended for anyone under 18. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take any medication, speak to your GP before use.
EAA Powder During a Calorie Deficit, Fasting or GLP-1 Treatment
When food intake drops, getting enough protein from meals can be hard, and large protein shakes do not suit everyone when appetite is low. Some people find a light, flavoured amino acid drink easier to fit in: one scoop in 250 to 500 ml of water supplies 5 g of essential amino acids and 2 g of leucine without a full meal. It can be sipped through training or between meals.
Read the full guide: EAAs and GLP-1 Medications: the protein gap explained. Reviewed by Sarah Law, Dip CNM. Covers the protein gap, leucine, resistance training and what happens after you stop the medication.
Always consult your prescribing clinician before adding supplements to any medical treatment plan.

FAQs
How much Essential Amino Acids Powder should I take?
One 5.8 g scoop provides 5 g of EAAs. Take 1 scoop in 250 ml of water daily, or as an exercise aid 1 to 2 scoops in 250 to 500 ml of water 30 minutes before, during or after training. Do not exceed the stated recommended daily intake.
Is this a complete amino acid powder?
Yes. It contains all 9 essential amino acids, making it a complete essential amino acid supplement rather than a basic BCAA product.
Is leucine an essential amino acid?
Yes. Leucine is one of the nine essential amino acids and one of the three BCAAs. Each scoop of this powder contains 2,000 mg of L-leucine.
Which amino acids are in BCAA, and does this powder contain them?
BCAA stands for branched chain amino acids: leucine, isoleucine and valine. This EAA powder contains all three (3,050 mg per scoop) plus the six other essential amino acids.
Which flavour should I choose?
Apple & Kiwi is fresh and crisp, Orange & Lime is citrusy, Watermelon is light and refreshing, and Mixed Berry is naturally sweet. All four use natural flavouring with stevia and no artificial colours.
What makes this EAA supplement different?
It uses fermented amino acids, delivers a full 5 g of EAAs per scoop with 2 g of leucine, contains no artificial colours, and pairs with completely filler free EAA tablets made from DC grade amino acids.
Is this product suitable for vegans?
Yes. The label states it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and the amino acids are made by fermentation.
Can I combine this with creatine and electrolytes?
Yes. EAAs can be taken alongside Creavitalis® Creatine Powder and Ultimate Electrolytes.
Can I sip EAA powder through the day while on a GLP-1 medication?
Some people on GLP-1 medications use a flavoured EAA drink across the day because it is easier to drink than eating a full meal when appetite is low. Each scoop gives 5 g of EAAs and 2 g of leucine in 250 to 500 ml of water. For more, see our guide: EAAs and GLP-1 Medications. Always consult your prescribing clinician before adding any supplement to a medical treatment plan.
Can I take EAAs during fasted training or intermittent fasting?
Many people sip EAA powder during fasted training. A scoop is mostly amino acids with stevia, so it is very light, but amino acids do provide some energy, so whether it fits your fasting approach is your call.
Should I use EAA powder or a protein shake?
A protein shake gives you whole protein, which also brings more calories and volume. EAA powder gives you just the 9 essential amino acids in a light drink, which some people prefer when training, between meals or when appetite is low. Many people use both.
